First Unveiling at CES 2026

At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, the brand “XGIMI” announced the new 4K laser projector TITAN Noir Max, the top-of-the-range model within the TITAN Noir lineup.

Intelligent Dual Iris System

Equipped with a Triple RGB laser light source and a Dual Iris system, the latter ensures a native contrast ratio of up to 10,000:1 and a dynamic contrast of 100,000:1 using DBLE technology.
Intelligent Dual Iris System
The manual iris allows adjustment across 5 aperture steps, increasing the contrast ratio at the expense of peak luminance depending on the selected aperture.

Based on one’s setup, users can independently choose how to balance screen performance.

A second iris continuously analyzes brightness and physically adjusts the aperture to achieve optimal contrast.

The Dual Intelligent Iris System is not the only method the TITAN NOIR MAX uses to improve on-screen contrast performance.

TITAN Noir Max 4K projector also features AI-based black enhancement called “AI-Powered Dynamic Black Enhancement.”

Thanks to the “X-Vision Image Chip” developed internally by XGIMI, the “Dynamic Black Level Enhancement” (DBLE) technology optimizes dark scenes in real time, ensuring deeper blacks and shadow details that remain perfectly visible on screen.

0.47” SST DMD Chip by Texas Instruments

At the core of the TITAN NOIR MAX is a new 0.47” SST DMD chip developed by Texas Instruments.
0.47” SST DMD Chip of TITAN Noir Max High-end 4K Projector
Compared to the previous generation 0.47” TRP DMD chip, SST technology improves heat dissipation, enabling more stable performance during prolonged projection and reducing thermal stress on components.

Thanks to these improvements, the new chip surpasses the peak brightness of the TRP chip and its native contrast, which was previously limited to performance below 2000:1.

Brightness: 7000 ISO Lumens

TITAN Noir Max 4K movie projector reaches a peak brightness of 7000 ISO lumens.
7000 ISO Lumens Projector brightness
For movie viewing, it achieves 5000 ISO lumens with brightness level 10+ (BOOST) and a deltaE <10.

Later, we will examine in detail the grayscale measurement of ISF NIGHT mode on my ALR screen “ADEO SCREEN” with “AMBIENT GREY” projection surface, gain 0.6, 115 inches, 16:9 format.
ISF NIGHT mode
Available from the second firmware provided to beta testers, the RBE reduction filter promises to reduce the rainbow effect typical of DLP projectors, ensuring a sharp and natural image while reducing eye strain during content viewing. At present, the filter introduces some video artifacts in low-IRE dark scenes, meaning very dark content.

Supported Format: Dolby Vision, IMAX Enhanced, HDR10+, and More

Full compatibility with dynamic metadata “HDR10+” and “Dolby Vision” is confirmed, in addition to standard HDR10.

Other features include Filmaker Mode, 3D compatibility, a Harman/Kardon audio system, and IMAX Enhanced certification.
RGB Triple Laser & HDR Dynamic Tone Mapping
TITAN Noir Max guarantees full coverage of the reference standards for digital cinematic content, DCI-P3 and REC2020. This ensures that content played from 4K HDR physical media or 4K HDR streaming, combined with Filmaker Mode, adheres to the intentions of the director and cinematographer.

Color: SSG A+ Certification and deltaE<0.8

TITAN MAX has an SSG A+ certification for “Low speckle” and “Low Color Fringing” with a declared deltaE<0.8. It also features efficient dynamic HDR Tone Mapping that significantly improves the quality of standard HDR content.

The TITAN Noir series offers a “Real Cinema Mode” designed to approximate a native 24 fps viewing experience. Although intrinsic technical limitations of the underlying chipset prevent achieving true native 24 fps display, the company is actively working on further improvements.

3D Supported

3D compatibility is present, a feature absent in many LCOS and LCD projectors. The high brightness of the TITAN Noir Max is crucial for 3D performance.

Optical Zoom and Throw Ratio

The lens has a throw ratio of 0.98–2.0:1 with extensive lens shift: vertical +/-130% and horizontal +/-50%.
Optical Zoom
In my setup, I can move the image vertically by 92 cm up or down; once the vertical axis limit is reached, horizontal shift cannot be used.

Horizontally, I can move the image by 62 cm to the right or left; once the horizontal axis limit is reached, the image can still be shifted vertically by about 11 cm.

These values represent the maximum shift achievable at a lens-to-screen distance of 4.7 meters with an image size of 115 inches and a screen width of 2.54 meters in 16:9 format.

Regarding projection distance, I can confirm the quality of the optics:

In WIDE position, TITAN maintains the minimum throw ratio of 0.98, illuminating my screen from 249.5 cm (254 × 0.98 = 248.92 cm)

In TELE position, at a distance of 507.5 cm (254 × 2 = 508 cm), proving extremely accurate
Lens Memory Switching
A highly requested feature will soon be available via firmware update: “Lens Memory for CinemaScope screens.”

This feature will allow optimal use of the TITAN Noir Max on panoramic screens, the type that most closely approximates an authentic home cinema experience.

Gaming Performance: Extraordinary Gaming Features

XGIMI does not overlook gaming and ensures low input lag, VRR technology, ALLM, and a refresh rate of 240Hz.

TITAN Noir Series 3 Models Comparison

As with the HORIZON 20 Series projectors, the TITAN Noir range will include 3 models, each with its own features and MSRP (in USD).

Another distinguishing feature among the three models is the optics. As with the HORIZON 20 lineup, the TITAN Noir Pro and Max models share the same “X-Master red ring lens Pro,” which provides better perceived resolution compared to the BASE model, which lacks the red ring lens.

Depending on the model, peak brightness and contrast also differ.

The IMAX logo also varies in color; in this case, it is GOLD on the flagship TITAN Noir Max.

All other features are shared across the models.

First SDR Measurements of TITAN Noir Max

Below are the first SDR measurements performed on the TITAN Noir Max.

The “ISF NIGHT” preset is analyzed with the lens zoom near TELE position (zoom 1.15), maximizing contrast performance. In this scenario, some maximum lumen output is sacrificed compared to a WIDE lens position.
Reminder: my screen is an ALR 115” AMBIENT GREY with gain 0.6.

Measured Brightness, Color Accuracy, and Performance Analysis

The brightness of the TITAN Noir Max with iris from F2 to F4 remains excellent on my ALR projection screen, achieving levels impossible with my previous projectors:
  • 58 nits EPSON TW 9400 (1100 lamp hours, maximum power)
  • 80 nits XGIMI HORIZON 20 Pro (laser brightness 10)
I attach a summary of measurements performed using HCFR via ‘i1Display Pro’ colorimeter (X-Rite), profiled with ‘iPro2’ spectrophotometer (X-Rite).

The following graphs differ slightly from HCFR tables, as they are based on my setup (lens close to TELE).

ANSI lumens and ISO lumens measurements were performed with iPro2 in “ambient” mode.
lUMINANZA NIT
CONTRASTO ON/OFF
ANSI LUMEN VS ISO LUMEN
TITAN Noir Max proves to be a very bright projector, with an ISF NIGHT preset very close to the desired average deltaE target below 3.0.

The ANSI lumens measurement in BOOST 10 mode is close to the 7000 ISO lumens specification; however, this setting shows problematic black level handling, with an unpleasant green tint that makes it difficult to use.

With brightness set to 10, lumen values are:
4755 / 4248 / 3947 (WIDE, MEDIUM/TELE, TELE)

“Please note that in WIDE position with F7 aperture it was not possible to measure projector contrast, and nit luminance also showed anomalies. The NIT and on/off contrast values obtained in WIDE, MEDIUM/TELE, and TELE positions are currently under analysis by XGIMI.”

Final

This concludes the preview of the TITAN Noir Max.
