Understanding XGIMI's Eagle Eye Perception Systemand the Sand Lizard Cooling System
By XGIMI Tech - 2021-11
Global sensorless focusing is an innovative feature that achieves 100% focus accuracy and ensures your content is displayed as clearly and sharply as possible. With our state-of-the-art Eagle Eye Perception System, XGIMI has integrated this incredible technology into most of our projectors. In this article, you learn all about our Eagle Eye Perception System and Sand Lizard cooling system and how they power bright, crystal-clear resolution.
First in the industry with the Eagle Eye Perception System
Eagles have exceptional binocular vision, and their eyes have fast focus adjustment, which enables them to track fast and accurately target at high speeds. Our Eagle Eye Sensing System has similar binocular vision capabilities, with a ToF laser and camera module for global sensorless focusing.
The Eagle Eye Sensing System enables global sensorless focusing with the ToF laser and camera module. The ToF laser shoots light at the target object. Based on the reflected light time of arrival, the distance from the body to the wall can be calculated, giving the XGIMI projector the ability to sense the scene depth information. With XGIMIs' deep AI algorithm, our projectors do not require a focus map while significantly improving their focus speed, allowing for a near-sensitive focusing experience.
Currently, the single ToF laser cannot capture global picture information, so its focus accuracy can only reach 95% in most scenarios. Since XGIMI is a home projector brand, the sharpness of every part of the picture will impact the user's viewing experience. Consequently, XGIMI has introduced a camera module to monitor the global image in real-time and make minor adjustments to achieve 100% focus accuracy, ensuring that the projection image is always in the sharpest possible state.
The Eagle Eye sensing system, while achieving a sensorless focus, is also capable of six-way fully automatic keystone correction. Keystone correction, as a major pain point in projection, has been a direction of exploration and development for XGIMI.
From vertical keystone correction in the earliest traditional projectors to the side-project correction launched three years ago to the intelligent assisted correction launched a year ago, the evolution of XGIMI keystone correction technology has been a process from manual to semi-automatic. Our Eagle Eye Perception System now has finally allowed us to enjoy near-perfect, fully automatic keystone correction.
Firstly, compared to the so-called automatic keystone correction introduced by previous projection manufacturers, the XGIMI projector's fully automatic keystone correction is no longer just a vertical keystone correction, but an automatic keystone correction in three axes, tilt in the up and down direction, rotation in the left and right direction and tilt correction. The projection can be automatically keystone corrected no matter how it is positioned, completely eliminating the need for manual user intervention.
Secondly, fully automatic keystone correction can be triggered automatically as the projector's position changes, meaning that the XGIMI projector can automatically complete keystone correction without any other operation after the user has moved it. For example, when we move the Horizon Pro from the living room to the bedroom, the projection is placed so that it can be automatically corrected, even if the table is not flat enough.
The "Sand Lizard" cooling system for super brightness
Improving projection brightness is simply a matter of: "open sources and cutting costs."
"Cutting costs" means optimizing the light path, improving light utilization, and reducing the loss of light in the machine based on a four-light path design.
XGIMI takes further steps with "open source" to improve the brightness of our projectors.
XGIMI uses a 20A high-power light source in this Sand Lizard cooling system, significantly increasing the projection brightness. However, this introduces a new problem: heat dissipation. As the power of the light source increases, the heat generated by the projector will also increase significantly. The brightness of the LED light source is incredibly susceptible to extreme hot and cold temperatures. Therefore, this "open source" approach is only effective if heat dissipation is prevented.
Unlike traditional projectors, with home projectors, you need to consider their functionality, design, and body size. With a limited body size, preventing heat dissipation caused by the high power of LED light sources is a challenge. To resolve this issue, XGIMI created the new Sand Lizard cooling system. To combat the desert temperatures, lizards constantly expel heat through their feet so that it does not build up quickly. Our Sand Lizard cooling system uses a similar split precision cooling system, consisting of multiple cooling stages, each level completing a different objective while cooling various parts of the projector.
The Sand Lizard cooling system allows XGIMI projectors to produce higher brightness. The XGIMI Horizon Pro, for example, has an unprecedented 2200 ANSI lumens, a great increase in brightness compared to previous products. It also effectively lowers machine noise to less than 30db. With this cooling system, XGIMI can “open source.”
Conclusion
XGIMI has continuously developed innovative technology to elevate or product performance to new heights. The Eagle Eye Perception system and Sand Lizard cooling system are perfect examples of our success. With features like these, you get the brightest, clearest images with 100% focus accuracy. Moreover, by integrating near-perfect, fully automatic keystone correction, users can enjoy stunning resolution without lifting a finger!
